Overnight Summary: The S&P 500 closed Wednesday at 4372.59 higher by 0.08% from Tuesday at 4369.01 higher by 0.69. Overnight ranges saw the high hit at 4427 at 4:55 p.m. EDT while the low was high at 4404.50 at 6:15 a.m. EDT. The range overnight was 23 points. The 10-day average of the overnight range is at 16.50 from 16.40. The average for May was 21.63. Currently, the S&P 500 is lower by -15 and is down by -0.35 % at 7:25 a.m. EDT.

VIX Futures are at 16.55 from 17 yesterday.  Gold, Silver and Copper lower from yesterday. WTI Crude Oil and Brent Crude Oil higher with Natural Gas higher. US 10-year Treasury sees yields at 3.823% from 3.827% yesterday. The U.S. Dollar is lower versus the Euro, higher versus the Pound and lower against the Yen. Bitcoin is at $24,869 from $26,001 from yesterday, lower by -3.95%.

The major indexes then pared their losses as Fed Chair Jerome Powell said in a press conference that central bankers believe inflation is in the process of moderating but he also added to would be years before rates would drop. The S&P rose by less than a tenth of a percentage point and the tech-heavy Nasdaq Composite climbed 0.4%. The Dow Jones Industrial Average fell 232.79 points, or 0.7%, to 33979.33, though it was dragged down by a decline in UnitedHealth UNH -6.40% decrease on guidance at a Goldman Sachs Industry Conference;  (WSJ – edited by QPI with changes in italics)
