The world now knows that officials of the Trump campaign including the president’s son Donald Trump Jr., son in law Jared Kushner and campaign manager Paul Manafort met at Trump Tower on June 9, 2016, in hopes of receiving official documents and information that would incriminate Hillary.
Yet, when the meeting became publication on July 8, 2017, when the New York Times first published the existence of the Trump Tower meeting. Trump Jr. said it was a “short introductory meeting” primarily discussing a Russian adoption program and that it was “not a campaign issue at the time.”
President Trump in the days that followed repeatedly took great pains to cover up the real subject of the meeting by claiming in among other statements including actually dictating a statement to his communications director, Hope Hicks as news broke about the meeting that the meeting was about Russian adoptions. Even his lawyer Jay Sekulow embellished the President’s lie to the American people by releasing a one-sentence statement: “Apart from being of no consequence, the characterizations are misinformed, inaccurate, and not pertinent” and then went on to appear on TV news shows to reinforce the lie.
Jay Sekulow claimed on Sunday’s ABC this week that he miss spoke and that his information at the time was because he had bad information. Sekulow’s admission, to any impartial observer who understands the chain of events has to come to the conclusion that President Trump has lied to his own since the matter became public.
It is now known that the Russians that the Trump campaign met with at Trump Tower on June 9, 2016, had direct ties to the Kremlin a Russian oligarch to Russian counterintelligence operations that went into direct effort after the meeting and after Trump went on TV two days later to ask for Russia’s help in finding “Clinton’s missing 30,000 emails” by hacking the DNC.
Trump was already in a panic that the subject of the meeting with these Russians would become public and that his prior knowledge of the meeting and its real purpose would be disclosed. He, after all, has been repeating like a mantra that he didn’t know about his son’s meeting with Russians at Trump Tower during the 2016 presidential campaign while asserting that such meetings are a routine part of politics -- “totally legal and done all the time.”
Trump’s lies about the events of June 9, 2016, at Trump Tower have led him to the point of total panic. On July 27, Trump said on Twitter …
“I did NOT know of the meeting with my son, Don Jr,”
This Tweet was prompted in response to reports that his former lawyer, Michael Cohen, was prepared to proffer to the Mueller Russian probe lawyers that Trump had known. Trump trying to deal with the danger of Cohen tweeted …
“Sounds to me like someone is trying to make up stories in order to get himself out of an unrelated jam,”
CNN reported that Cohen was prepared to tell federal investigators that the president knew ahead of time about the meeting, at which a Russian lawyer with links to the Kremlin was expected to deliver damaging information about Democratic presidential candidate Hillary Clinton.
Such testimony by Cohen, a longtime fixer for Trump, would contradict the testimony and public denials of the president, his son, and other campaign officials who’ve repeatedly said the president wasn’t aware of the meeting until more than a year later.
WallStreetRebel.com sources close to Trump tell us the call made before and after the meeting by Donald Trump Jr. to blocked number were in fact calls to a phone belong to his father and that the President just isn’t thinking clearly about the evidence that is already in the hands of Mueller’s investigators.
If this wasn’t the only serious lie, the President might survive this “Trump Tower scandal” but this week it became clear there are other enormous lies by the President becoming clear including his knowing when he asked former FBI Director James B. Comey, in a very unusual private Oval Office meeting on February 14, 2017, to shut down an FBI criminal investigation of Trump’s former national security adviser, Lt. Gen. Michael Flynn. Asserting to Comey …
“I hope you can see your way clear to letting this go, to letting Flynn go,” Comey has testified the president told him.
Trump’s lawyers have insisted President Trump didn’t know at the time he asked Comey to let Flynn go that the National Security Advisor a target of a criminal investigation. Trump’s lawyers have repeatedly made the case in the media that the President believed that Flynn was no longer under criminal investigation, or had been cleared; the president could not have had corrupt intent. That whole line of denial like the one President Trump has used to cover up the real subject of the “Trump Tower scandal” has been disproven by the facts.
We now know that the President did know and understood the legal jeopardy that Flynn faced, and like the Trump campaign meeting with Russians with direct ties to the Kremlin, a Russian oligarch (friendly with Trump) and Russian counterintelligence operations.
President Trump is in a panic because of these revelations regarding both his attempt justice regarding both Flynn and now the Trump Tower meeting along with all of his dishonest Tweets could all be used to demonstrate a very strong case of criminal intent against —and would make for a much stronger case for obstruction against the president.
