President Donald Trump has repeatedly blamed former President Barack Obama for his own administration’s mishandling of the coronavirus pandemic using the big lie that “The last administration left us nothing.” It is just another of the flagrant conman’s lies to move the blame to some else.
“The last administration left us nothing.”
The St. Louis Post-Dispatch found that the president’s budget documents show the opposite ― exposing what it called “a lie of colossal Trumpian proportions.”
The truth uncovered by The St. Louis Post-Dispatch’s editorial board showed Trump’s administration told Congress that the Obama administration left it with everything needed for a potential pandemic, and Trump sought big budget cuts from the programs. President Trump’s 2020 budget requested a cut in the United States’ pandemic preparedness budget by $102.9 million. Worse, this cut was part of $595.5 million in requested cuts to public health preparedness and response outlay.
The St. Louis Post-Dispatch’s editorial board went on to say…
“Obama left office with an unblemished record of building up the nation’s pandemic preparedness… Trump systematically sought to dismantle it.”
While President Trump and his lying mentally unstable sycophants blame Obama for lack of personal protective equipment and testing supplies saying…
“Our cupboards were bare. We had very little in our stockpile.”
St. Louis Post-Dispatch’s editorial board using a chart provided by the Trump administration with the budget shows that by 2016 ― Obama’s final year in office ― the nation’s public health emergency preparedness was at least 98% on every key measure. The Post-Dispatch went on to say…
“That’s by the Trump administration’s own assessment…If the cupboard was bare, it’s because Trump swept it clean.”
