According to Trump’s staffers, President Trump was joking about slowing testing down, so the numbers of those infected with the coronavirus, which can lead to the deadly disease Covid-19, don’t make him look bad.

Trump has since refused to acknowledge it was a joke. In fact, he is doubling down on the claim of asking his people to slow down testing.

There is evidence that President Trump has been dragging his feet on testing as the Trump’s administration has yet to distribute nearly $14 billion that House and Senate voted to provide for expanding coronavirus testing and contact tracing.

Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer and Sen. Patty Murray in a letter to U.S. Department of Health and Human Services Secretary Alex Azar, claim the Trump administration has not released a plan to distribute more than $8 billion out of the $25 billion provided by Congress in April to expand testing and contact tracing. The reason has now been made clear. Trump is trying to keep the horrific numbers from showing his opening up of America is a disaster. It’s like not to cause a second wave. Instead, it’s potentially going to create a tsunami of death and suffering.

The United States has 4% of the world population and more than 25% of the coronavirus infections and deaths. Using the most current COVID-19 statistics the pandemic here in the United States, 5% of those who have contracted the coronavirus has died. This is a shocking number as we have just fewer than 2.4 million cases documented of the coronavirus.

Assuming 60% of the U.S. population of 330 million people, 198 million people could be infected, and at a 5% fatality rate we could see this pandemic steadily claim the lives of 9.9 million Americans.

The Lincoln Project just released one of the most potent political ads making it clear to the American voters that President Trump is making decisions that could kill tens, perhaps hundreds of thousands of more Americans by holding back on testing for coronavirus.
