President Trump has decided that he isn’t going to impose auto tariffs on Europe, Japan, and South Korea because he needs their support for his trade war with China and his march towards war with Iran. However, the British have let it be known that they see no increased risk from Iranian or allied militias in Iraq or Syria.

A senior British military official told reporters at the Pentagon on Tuesday that his country’s intelligence services in the Middle-East don’t see any increased threats to American troops and interests from Iran or its proxies in the region at this time.
Just a few hours later the United States Central Command rebuked the remarks by the senior British military official. Maj. Gen. Chris Ghika, who is also the deputy commander of the American-led coalition fighting the Islamic State run…
“Counter to the identified credible threats available to intelligence from U.S. and allies regarding Iranian-backed forces in the region.”
Meanwhile, Senator Tom Cotton (R-ARK) asserted during a TV interview that Iran could be defeated with two quickly with two military strikes.
War Déjà Vu - Trump Moving Towards Wag the Dog!
If President Trump thinks he can instigate a war against Iran to drown out the nightmare of all the torrent scandals and investigations taking place in Washington D.C., NY, Virginia and Illinois that threaten his administration and presidency with the help of our allies around the world in exchange for his not imposing tariffs on their auto imports – he’s really is deluded.
Trump’s national security advisor John Bolton was one of the chief architects of the Iraq war and the nonsense lies that were used to lead us into that war. Now he’s doing it again with a POTUS who is desperate to look strong and presidential at the same time that he’s desperate to take attention away from an ocean of scandals and investigations.
Our traditional allies were sucked into Iraq, including NATO using lies and misrepresentations and they’re not going to be pulled into a never-ending the war with Iran as the result of President Trump and the neo-cons working for him, instigating a war with Iran. They’ve been burned once and are not going to be burned again.
The senior British military official told reporters at the Pentagon…
“No, there has been no increased threat from Iranian-backed forces in Iraq or Syria.”
Meanwhile, on Tuesday, Spanish defense officials in what is expected to the first of several rebukes from our allies withdrew a Spanish frigate that was part of the American-led Lincoln carrier strike group heading to the Persian Gulf, to avoid entanglement in any future conflict with Iran.
POTUS being prodded to go to War by John Bolton and Secretary of State Pompeo?
One U.S. official, speaking on the condition of anonymity to discuss confidential internal planning, told the New York Times the new intelligence of an increased Iranian threat was “small stuff” and did not merit the military plan being driven by Mr. Bolton. The official also said the ultimate goal of the yearlong economic sanctions campaign by the Trump administration was to draw Iran into an armed conflict with the United States.
Secretary of State Mike Pompeo’s efforts this week to enlist our European allies to back both Trump’s ratcheting up military posture towards Iran and the possible military attack was met with skepticism and distain.
Federica Mogherini, the European Union’s foreign affairs chief, did his best to be diplomatic and called for “maximum restraint” after meeting on Pompeo’s visit in Brussels.
European officials are describing Mr. Bolton’s and Mr. Pompeo’s push to war with Iran as taking advantage of an unsuspecting President Trump via a series of steps that push the United States into a war before the president realizes what’s happening- a president that promised no long stupid wars during his campaign?
The answer is - no way!
Anyone that buys into this Iranian war build up, as being done without President Trump’s being willing is lying to themselves. The President is desperate as new revelations about his dishonesty and corruption comes out week after week as we approach the 2020 election. Sooner or later, representatives of our allies will start letting the world know that Bolton and Pompeo are just taking advantage of Trump’s wanting to “Wag the Dog.”
Iranian leaders for the part are reacting with both verbal belligerence and diplomatic restraint. In Tuesday tweet, Iran’s foreign minister, Mohammad Javad Zarif, ridiculed Bolton, and three anti-Iran foreign leaders in the Middle East as a “B Team.”
“In interviews in April, I predicted ‘accidents’ — not because I’m a genius — but because #B_Team is so brazenly following @AmbJohnBolton’s script… After all, half of B-Team were co-conspirators in disastrous Iraq war.”Senator Cotton’s assertion that Iran can be defeated, and will capitulate after two military strikes are the height of stupidity. Iran is more than twice the size of Iraq and has a military dramatically stronger than Iraq had in 2003. Instigating a war could lead to hundreds of thousands of civilian deaths and any occupation much less one designed to steal the country’s oil reserves would be catastrophic for U.S. occupying forces. We’re looking at what could be a 100-year war if American’s allow Trump and his crony neo-cons to allow him to “Wag the dog.”
