The Week Ahead Sees The Federal Reserve Move
The, Russell 2000, NASDAQ 100, S&P 100 and the Dow Jones Industrial Average were lower for the week.
1.Geopolitical and Fiscal Events. Tuesday sees the FOMC begin a two day meeting with announcement and press conference on Wednesday. Thursday sees the BOJ and BOE out with their latest decisions.
2.Economic Releases. Releases of note this week and next include the weekly chain store sales, oil/gas numbers, mortgage applications and jobless claims as well Empire Manufacturing, NAHB Index, housing starts, existing home sales, leading indicators, durable goods, personal income and Michigan Sentiment.
3.Earnings Releases. Notable releases this upcoming week include ORCL RHT FDX MU PAYX GIS ACN NKE WBA KMX
Monday, December 17
December Empire State Manufacturing Survey is released at and is expected to fall to 20.2 from 23.3.
The National Association of Homebuilders releases its NAHB/Wells Fargo Housing Index and it is expected to remain at 60.
Tuesday, December 18
November Housing Stats are due out at 8:30 a.m. EDT and is expected to rise to 1,230,000 from 1,228,000.
The Federal Reserve Open Market Committee (FOMC) begins a two day meeting with an announcement and press conference on Wednesday.
Wednesday, December 19
November Existing Home Sales are due out at 8:30 a.m. EDT and is expected to fall to 5,200,000 from 5,220,000.
Axalta Coating System (AXTA) holds its analyst day and is a Type 4 Long Squeeze.
The FOMC announces their latest interest rate decision at 2:00 p.m. EDT with a press conference to follow at 2:30 p.m. EDT. An increase pf 25 basis points is expected but guidance for next year remains a big unknown at this point in time.
Thursday, December 20
November Leading Indicators are due out at 10:00 a.m. EDT and are expected to remain at 0.1%.
The Bank of Japan (BOJ) announces its interest rate decision early Thursday morning U.S. time.
The Bank of England (BOE) is our with its latest interest rate decision at 7:45 a.m. EDT.
Friday, December 21
November Durable Goods are due out at 8:30 a.m. EDT and are expected to rise to 1.6% from -4.3%.
Q3 GDP (final) is due out at 8:30 a.m. EDT and is expected to remain at 3.5%.
November Personal Income is due out at 10:00 a.m. EDT is expected to fall to 0.3% from 0.5%.
December Michigan Sentiment is due out at 10:00 a.m. EDT and is expected to remain at 97.5.
