The Week Ahead  Sees Brexit, Yellen and More

1.Geopolitical and Fiscal Events. Monday sees President Obama address the Commerce Department Summit and sees Federal Reserve Minneapolis President Neel Kashkari speak at 12:15 p.m. EDT. Tuesday Federal Reserve Chairman Janet Yellen begins two days of Humphrey Hawkins testimony. Wednesday sees Federal Reserve Governor Powell speak. Wednesday sees the Bank of Japan announce their latest rate decision. Thursday sees Great Britain decide whether to leave the European Union. Thursday also sees the Federal Reserve announce stress test results on large U.S. and international financial companies. Also, Federal Reserve Dallas President Rob Kaplan speaks at Thursday night.

2.Economic Releases. Releases of note this week include the weekly chain store sales,oil/gas numbers, mortgage applications and leading indicators, new home sales, durable goods orders and Michigan Sentiment.

3.Earnings Releases. Notable releases include ADBE FDX RHT BBBY CAN CCL BBRY FINL.

Monday, June 20

President Obama addresses the U.S. Commerce Department Summit.

Tuesday, June 21

Federal Reserve Chairman Janet Yellen begins two days of testimony with the Senate up first, starting at 10:00 a.m. EDT.

Wednesday, June 22

Federal Reserve Chairman Janet Yellen concludes two days of testimony with the House Financial Services Committee, starting at 10:00 a.m. EDT.

The Bank of Japan releases meeting minutes from its last meeting.

Southwest Airlines (LUV) and General Motors (GM) hold analyst meetings and are Type 4 Long Squeezes.

Thursday, June 23

May Durable Goods Orders are due out at 8:30 a.m. EDT and are expected to fall to -0.8% from 3.4%.

May Leading Indicators are due out at 10:00 a.m. EDT and are expected to fall to 0.2% from 0.6%.

At the same time, May New Home Sales are due out and expected to fall to 560,000 from 619,000.

Friday, June 24

June Michigan Sentiment is due out at 10:00 a.m. EDT and are expected to fall to 94 from 94.3.

The latest NYSE and NASDAQ Short Interest is due out after the close of trading.
