The Week Ahead For The First Week of 2022

The S&P 500, NASDAQ 100, Russell 2000 and Dow Jones Industrial Average were all higher last week thanks to last Monday’s action.
1.Geopolitical and Fiscal Events. It should be a quiet week as most in Washington D.C. are still away for the Holidays.
2.Economic Releases. Releases of note this week include the weekly chain store sales, oil/gas numbers, mortgage applications and construction spending, ISM Manufacturing Index, ADP Employment Report, FOMC Minutes, factory orders, ISM Non-Manufacturing Index and Employment Data.
3.Earnings Releases. Notable releases this upcoming week include STZ WBA LW SAFM HELE AYI GBX.
Monday, January 3rd
November Construction Spending is due out at 10:00 a.m. EST and is expected to rise to 0.6% from 0.2%.
Tuesday, January 4th
December ISM Manufacturing Index is due out at 10:00 a.m. EST and is expected to fall to 60.3% from 61.1%.
Wednesday, January 5th
December ADP Employment Report is due out at 8:15 a.m. EST and is expected to fall to 425,000 from 534,000.
The latest Federal Reserve Open Market Committee (FOMC) Minutes are due to be released at 2:00 p.m. EST.
Thursday, January 6th
November Factory Orders are due out at 10:00 a.m. EST and are expected to rise to 1.2% from 1.0%.
December Non-ISM Manufacturing Index is due out at 10:00 a.m. EST and is due to fall to 67.1% from 69.1%.
Friday, January 7th
December Nonfarm Payrolls are due out at 8:30 a.m. EST and are expected to grow to 440,000 from 210,000. The unemployment rate is expected to drop to 4.1% from 4.2%.
