The Week Ahead For June 24th Through June 28th

The NASDAQ 100 was higher as were the Dow Jones Industrial Average, S&P 100 and Russell 2000 last week.

1.Geopolitical and Fiscal Events. Tuesday sees Federal Reserve Chairman Jerome Powell speak. Friday sees the G-20 start a two day meeting. President Trump and President Xi to meet at the G-20 on Friday as well.

2.Economic Releases. Releases of note this week and next include the weekly chain store sales, oil/gas numbers, mortgage applications and jobless claims as well as S&P Case Schiller Home Price Index, Consumer Confidence, New Home Sales, Durable Orders, Q1 GDP Third Estimate, Pending Home Sales, Personal Income and University of Michigan Consumer Sentiment.

3.Earnings Releases. Notable releases this upcoming week include FDX MU LEN FDS GIS PAYX NIKE AON STZ JKS.

Monday, June 24

None of note.

Tuesday, June 25 

S&P Case Schiller Home Price Index due out at 8:00 a.m. EDT and is expected to fall to 2.5% from 2.7%.

June Consumer Confidence is due out at 10:00 a.m. EDT and is expected to fall to 132 from 134.10.

May New Home Sales are due out at 10:00 a.m. EDT and are expected to rise to 683,000 from 673,000.

Federal Reserve Chairman Jerome Powell speaks at the Council on Foreign Relations in New York City at 1:00 pm. EDT.

Treasury 2 Year Auction at 1:00 p.m. EDT.

The latest NYSE and NASDAQ Short Interest is due out after the close.

Wednesday, June 26

May Durable Goods are due out at 8:30 a.m. EDT and are expected to improve to a drop of -0.3% from -2.10%.

Treasury 5 Year Auction at 1:00 p.m. EDT.

The Democratic Party begins two days of nightly debates with all candidates. 

Thursday, June 27

Q1 GDP Third Estimate is due out at 8:30 a.m. EDT and is expected to remain at 3.1%.

May Pending Home Sales are due out at 10:00 a.m. EDT and expected to rise to 1.0% from -1.5%.

The Democratic Party concludes two days of debate with top contenders Senator Bernie Sanders and former Vice President Joe Biden leading tonight’s debate.

Treasury 7 Year Auction at 1:00 p.m. EDT.

Friday, June 28

May Personal Income is due out at 8:30 a.m. EDT and are expected to fall to 0.3% from 0.5%.

The G-20 begin a two day meeting in Osaka, Japan.

President Trump to meet with Chinese President Xi at the G-20. Over the weekend another deadline for the Brexit to reach completion.
