The Week Ahead For January 10th to 14th

The first week of trading is a wrap and it was a struggle. The S&P 500, NASDAQ 100, Russell 2000 and Dow Jones Industrial Average were all lower again last week.

1.Geopolitical and Fiscal Events. Wednesday sees the Federal Reserve Beige Book due out at 2:00 p.m. EST.

2.Economic Releases. Releases of note this week include the weekly chain store sales, oil/gas numbers, mortgage applications and NFIB Small Business Optimism, CPI, PPI, Retail Sales, Industrial Production and University of Michigan Consumer Sentiment.

3.Earnings Releases. Notable releases this upcoming week include AZZ CMC ACI INFO JEF SJR KBH DAL TSM BLK C JPM WFC.

Monday, January 10th

None of note.

Tuesday, January 11th

December NFIB Small Business Optimism is due out at 6:00 a.m. EST and came in last month at 98.40.

The latest NYSE and NASDAQ Short Interest is due out after the close for the period ended settlement of December 31st.

Wednesday, January 12th

December CPI is due out at 8:30 a.m. EST and is expected to fall to 0.4% from 0.8%.

The latest Federal Reserve Beige Book is due to be released at 2:00 p.m. EST.

Thursday, January 13th

November PPI is due out at 8:30 a.m. EST and are expected to fall to 0.4% from 0.8%.

Friday, January 14th

December Retail Sales are due out at 8:30 a.m. EST and are expected to fall to 0.0% from 0.3.

December Industrial Production is due out at 9:15 a.m. EST and is expected to fall to 0.3% from 0.5%.

University of Michigan Consumer Sentiment – (Preliminary) is due out at 10:00 a.m. EST and is expected to fall to 68.5 from 70.6.
