Michael Moore Doubles Down on his Prediction of a 2022 Democrat Tsunami

Most political polls, commentators, and experts expect a massive Republican victory once all ballots are tabulated. If Republicans gain control of Congress, the United States government will be compelled to shut down in response to their demands to reduce Social Security, Medicare, and Medicaid.

As the 2016 presidential election neared, liberal filmmaker/activist Michael Moore was so pessimistic that he projected Donald J. Trump would not only win the presidency but also control both the House and Senate. A substantial number of Democratic leaders and strategists were outraged by his prediction.

Moore's prediction that far-right Donald J. Trump will defeat Democratic contender Hillary Clinton by sweeping Pennsylvania, Michigan, and Wisconsin proved correct.

With less than two weeks to the election and Democrats fearful that Republicans would annihilate them in this midterm election, Moore continues to predict that the Democrats will triumph. Moore still believes that angry voters, enraged by the Supreme Court's decision to overturn Roe v. Wade, will unleash a large blue "tsunami."

Moore, 68, did not back down from his forecast during an interview with The Guardian published on October 23. Moore is known for films such as 1989's "Roger and Me," 2002's "Bowling for Columbine," 2004's "Fahrenheit 9/11," and 2007's "Sicko." In fact, he increased his bet.

In terms of pessimism, Moore argues that liberals and progressives have been conditioned to expect the worst in elections, especially the 2022 midterms. Moore told The Guardian…

 "The effect of this kind of reporting can be jarring — it can get inside the average American's head and scramble it. You can start to feel deflated. You want to quit. You start believing that we liberals are a bunch of losers. And by thinking of ourselves this way, if you're not careful, you begin to manifest the old narrative into existence."

Over the last 30 years, Moore has tackled a number of critical issues in the United States. Everything from the outsourcing of American jobs in his film "Roger and Me" to the horrors of the American healthcare system in his documentary "Sicko" — which was released three years before the Affordable Care Act of 2010, also known as Obamacare, was passed by Congress and signed into law by then-President Barack Obama.

Moore now forecasts that the 2022 midterm elections will become "Roevember," with millions of voters expressing their outrage about Roe v. Wade being overturned by the United States Supreme Court's Dobbs v. Jackson Women's Health Care judgment.

Moore told The Guardian…

"If I said to you six months ago, 'You know Kansas, right? It's a huge pro-abortion state, and this summer, by a margin of 60 percent, they're going to keep abortion legal,' you'd think I had made a crazy statement. If I'd told you at the same time that in the congressional election in Alaska, a hard red state, it's not only not going to be won by a Democrat, but a Native Alaskan Democrat, again you'd have to question if I was out of my mind…. I'm 68, and I don't have time to mess around. I'm deadly serious."

Despite predicting a blue tsunami in 2022, Moore was critical of the Democratic Party during his interview with The Guardian. Moore, who has been discussing the midterms in his series of articles for his website/blog he calls "Mike's Midterm Tsunami Truth," believes that millions of Americans will be voting Democratic in November not because of Democratic Party organizers and strategists but in spite of them.

Moore also revealed in his interview with the Guardian…

 "The biggest hurdle to what I'm doing with the series is the Democratic Party…. It's very disheartening, and it would make even me question how we're going to pull this off. The Democratic Party consultants are feeding lines that are so lame and weak. They don't go for the jugular like a Republican would. It doesn't inspire people at home…. We stand here on the precipice of a very important election, and our greatest enemy could be the Democratic Party itself…. Everyone…. who does care and feels like our democracy could be hanging on by a thread…. has to do something in these last three weeks".

I'm still not convinced. I believe the Democrats will lose control of both the House and Senate, resulting in a government shutdown over the next two years as President Biden refuses to cut social security, Medicare, and Medicaid.

The Wall Street demonstration will continue until it is evident that the Republican Party will withdraw all aid to Ukraine, shut down the government for months, and default on the country's debt, just as Trump was willing to do while in office.

Meanwhile, states controlled by the far-right Trump MAGA wing of the Republican party, such as Wisconsin, Nevada, and Arizona, will give state legislators control of their state's electoral votes, effectively eliminating the one-person, one-vote democracy that we have enjoyed.

So, while the stock market rallies on a massive shift in power to the richest one-half of one percent and large corporations that will cost the middle class and poor hundreds of billions of dollars per year, the reality is that a government shutdown of months with Republicans determined to kill these entitlement programs and President Biden knowing that if he backs down to save the country by cutting these benefits, his party will be crushed in 2024.

I hope Michael Moore is correct and that my fears are unfounded. If I'm correct, the surging US stock market will take a historic drop as the reality of an enormously catastrophic shutdown sets in.

MAGA Republicans endanger not only our democracy and Ukraine's survival as a free country but also the United States' complete trust and credit. They also pose a danger to the value of the US dollar.
