Manhattan DA May Have’ Insider’ in Trump Criminal Case
According to a Politico/Morning Consult survey, almost a third of Republicans believe the insane claim that Donald Trump will be “reinstated” as President by the end of the year.
A survey conducted by Politico/Morning Consult found that 29% of self-identified Republicans believe it will be very or somewhat likely that Trump will reassume the role of the commander-in-chief by the end of this year. He and his surrogates have been pushing the likelihood that he will be restored to office by the end of August due to an insane partisan recount underway in Arizona.
Trump apparently was sold this bill of goods by the former crack addict and founder of “My Pillow,” Mike Lindell. The latter is one of President Donald Trump’s biggest backers and poured millions of dollars into helping fund the GOP efforts to overturn the 2020 presidential election. In recent days, Lindell and others who started this fantasy theory that has no basis, in fact, have been slowly backing away from the claim.
Trump, Lindell, General Flynn, and others pushing this nonsense of reinstatement have been unable to answer questions on precisely what legal process exists for a reversal of this kind. The fantasy has already seared its way into the Qanon movement rhetoric and morphed into even crazier assertions.
These fantastic fantasies may be nothing more than a sign that the former President realizes that he will likely be indicted first by the Manhattan DA and the N.Y. Attorney General in the next 60-90 days. Further, a grand jury in Georgia and possible criminal investigations by the Southern District of New York and the District of Columbia into crimes he committed while in office could also lead to indictments. Trump’s loss of the presidency removes any protection he enjoyed from being prosecuted while he was in office.
All of this comes as news is leaking that Manhattan prosecutors may have found a Trump “insider” at the Trump Organization with over 4 decades of knowledge into the former President’s business dealings to testify in front of a grand jury. They will be considering whether criminal charges are warranted against former President Donald Trump, his three oldest children, and other company executives, according to one of the top prosecutors who was part of Robert Mueller’s special counsel investigation.
According to the Washington Examiner…
“Andrew Weissmann, a former Justice Department official, and FBI general counsel said reports about the testimony of a senior Trump Organization official may be a game-changer for the New York-based inquiry.”
While Trump has repeatedly denied any wrongdoing and in February decried what he dubbed a…
“New phenomenon of ‘headhunting by democratic prosecutors and A.G.’s who are conducting the biggest witch hunt in U.S. history.”
Weissmann said on Wednesday during an MSNBC interview said...
“I’d like to throw out one more name, which is Jeff McConney because I don’t think that’s gotten enough attention because last week the reports were that he went into the state grand jury, and he is the controller of the Trump Organization,”
“So, again, all speculation, but clearly you’re looking for an insider. That’s why there is so much focus on Allen Weisselberg trying to get somebody who is on the inside who would know where every penny went. Well, that’s the controller as well as the CFO.”
“So if Jeff McConney is cooperating, that is really bad news potentially for Weisselberg and for the Trump Organization and other individuals up to and including maybe the former president.”
The testimony by former White House Counsel Don Meghan also opens the possibility that the former President may find himself under investigation and indicted in the District of Columbia to obstruct justice during the Mueller investigation.
The possibility that Trump and many of those around him wind up under criminal indictment hasn’t affected the fanatic loyalty of 29% of Trump’s self-identified Republican followers.
