What White Privilege Really Means…

If you are white, you might be surprised that your "normal" way of life is a privilege that Black people don't get to enjoy.

White privilege is a social phenomenon… it is generally agreed to refer to the implicit or systemic advantages that people who are deemed white have relative to people who are not deemed white; it is the absence of suspicion and other negative reactions that white people experience.

 The term is used in discussions focused on the mostly hidden benefits that white people possess in a society where racism is prevalent and whiteness is considered normal, rather than on the detriments to people who are the objects of racism.  

In the wake of the January 6, 2020 insurrection, it’s becoming clearer and more apparent that the vast number of Republicans has become Trumplicans. Even worse, a large number are outright white supremacists willing to take up arms against the U.S. government, kidnap and execute both Democrat and Republican members of Congress.

The brutal reality of the deep racial and religious hatred in the United States was once again confirmed when a Donald Trump supporter was arrested and charged for has been charged in an alleged bomb plot aimed at keeping the ousted 45^th U.S. President in office. When arrested, he was carrying a “White Privilege Card.”  The arrest was made after a search warrant was granted to the FBI due to an informant telling the law enforcement agency the man had illegal guns.

According to a report, The San Francisco Chronicle Ian Benjamin Rogers was arrested January 15 by the FBI and charged in federal court. Federal prosecutors are alleging investigators seized 49 firearms, five pipe bombs, bomb-making materials and thousands of rounds of ammunition from his home and business in Napa, California. Investigators also found materials "that could be used to manufacture explosive devices" and a copy of "The Anarchist Cookbook."

A message reportedly in Rogers’ phone read: “I want to blow up a democrat building so bad,” and “The democrats need to pay.”

Rogers, the owner of British Auto Repair of the Napa Valley, also allegedly wrote: “I hope 45 (President Donald Trump) goes to war if he doesn’t I will.”

Rogers, 44-year-old, according to the prosecutors charging him had stickers indicating support for the “Three Percenters” White Supremacist Gun Militia Group a far-right fringe group that ascribes to extreme anti-government, pro-gun beliefs.

Authorities think Ian Benjamin Rogers is threatening Newsom, Twitter and Facebook in texts to fellow Three Percenters.

The FBI asserts Rogers was also carrying a mock “white privilege” credit card that references the former president, whom his attorney said Rogers strongly supported.

The affidavit filed by the FBI’s Domestic Terrorism Squad says a sticker on Roger’s vehicle identified him as a member of the Three Percenters.  Their name is a reference to the belief that only 3 percent of American colonists fought against the British during the American Revolution. Several members have also been charged in connection with their involvement in the insurrection at the U.S. Capitol Building.

In addition to federal charges, Rogers is facing 28 felony charges in state court for weapons possession, possession of explosives, possession of an illegal silencer and multiple unregistered assault weapons. His arraignment is tomorrow, and he faces 30 years in prison if convicted.
