On the ever of the Republican National Convention, the New York Attorney’s Office has now begun to play hardball with the Trump Organization to get hidden documentation revealing the actual value of the organizational assets.
On the Ever of the Republican National Convention, dominoes are beginning to fall throughout the Trump Organization. New York Attorney General Letitia James alleged in new court papers filed in Manhattan on Monday Eric Trump has refused seven subpoenas to be interviewed and produce missing documents. President Donald Trump’s son Eric was named in a civil case by New York Attorney General Letitia James (D-NY) for alleged fraud associated with the Trump Organization. James says the Trump Organization and the president’s son aren’t cooperating.
James will look into lies put on financial documents. The lies associated with ties to alleged banking fraud is being investigated where the Trump Organization defrauded on loan documents the size and worth of Trump’s properties. James specifically asked the judge assigned to the case to demand Eric Trump comply with subpoenas for the company.
Since the Congressional Testimony giving by Donald Trump’s “fixer” and personal attorney Michael Cohen in 2019, James has been subpoenaing the Trump Organization Trump’s annual financial statements. Cohen, under Congressional oath, stated Trump exaggerated the value of his assets to help him get better terms on loans and insurance policies.
The attorney general's office also subpoenaed and sought documents from attorneys and development companies involved with the Trump Organization or several of his properties. Prosecutors assert that Trump attorney-client privilege is being claimed improperly for several thousand documents being withheld by those firms.
Prosecutors assert that the Trump Organization in the inquiry has withheld hundreds of documents.
Letitia James states…
“Nothing will stop us from following the facts and the law, wherever they may lead. For months, the Trump organization has made baseless claims in an effort to shield evidence from a lawful investigation into its financial dealings.”
“They have stalled, withheld documents, and instructed witnesses, including Eric Trump, to refuse to answer questions under oath. That’s why we've filed a motion to compel the Trump Organization to comply with our office’s lawful subpoenas for documents and testimony. These questions will be answered and the truth will be uncovered, because no one is above the law.”
The New York Attorney General is asking for a judge to intervene and force the business to answer the subpoenas and compel Eric Trump’s testimony, as he was alleged “intimately involved” in at least one transaction that her office is reviewing.
The Trump organization counters the…
“The Trump Organization has done nothing wrong and … the New York Attorney General’s has made no determination that anything was improper or that any action is forthcoming.”
“While we have tried to cooperate in good faith with the investigation at every turn, the NYAG’s continued harassment of the company as we approach the election (and filing of this motion on the first day of the Republican National Convention) once again confirms that this investigation is all about politics,” the rep said.
